Japanese Seaside Town, College Final Project

My final project for the 3D Computer Graphics program I've been in for the past few months. This is the largest project I've ever done and I'm very proud of it! I made every material, object, and animation myself from scratch (except for the few at the end of the video). This will always be a major landmark in my 3D career.

Using the terrain party website, I grabbed this image of a heightmap of the area surrounding the town of Ine in Japan, near Kyoto.

The right, you see the image after I edited in photoshop, and what I started with in Houdini.

Within Houdini, I modified the landscape to make it more realistic, like changing the shore where the water would affect the build up of sediment. I then used Houdini Engine to bring the terrain into Unreal.

My master material that I made. used on about 80% of the objects in the scene. Optimized for customization with minimal input image files.

Master material used for most of the plants. Used UE4s built in "wind" system which is just a panning normal map.
